Today is the second anniversary of Super Kaiju. It is also its last day.

We (Brandon and Jason) met long before those two years ago, working together at an ad agency that no longer exists, both excited that someone else spoke the same language of replicants, midi-chlorians and John Carpenter soundtracks.

What first began as just a portfolio to catalog our freelance writing for Bleeding Cool and Central Track (relationships that continued long into the SK years), turned into a full-fledged website: Super Kaiju.

From San Diego Comic Con to the streets of Austin, Texas editing Mondo photos in the rain, the past two years have been full of reviews (Brandon’s favorite), interviews (Jason’s favorite) and 33 recorded conversations with some very special Star Wars cast and crew members.

The name still poses problems, yes. (“How do you pronounce that?” “What is a Kaiju?”) But every instance of having to explain to someone using Pacific Rim as a reference point has been fun, nonetheless.

Starting tomorrow, we will both be working in the same office once again and we cannot wait. We’re sure you’ll hear more about it soon enough but, in the meantime, we have happily agreed with our new company to putt Super Kaiju “on ice”, as Arnold Schwarzenegger would say in Batman and Robin. You’ll find out why soon enough.

Talking Bay 94 will continue (and has a brand spanking new website: http://www.talkingbay94.com/), so keep your ears peeled there.

In the meantime, we want to thanks Brad Johnson and Brandy Fons at Fons PR, Allied Marketing, Trizcom, Mark Walters at BigFanboy.com, Zachery McGinnis at Galactic Productions, the team at Order 66, Ike Ntube, Maggie Hunter and so many more that we are probably forgetting, for giving us a chance and access and some great times.

And a special thanks to our two regular contributors: Ovidio Hinojosa and Justin Salva Cruz, who leant Goldblum wit and occasional Power Rangers know-how with articles and event coverage. We’re sure you’ll be seeing their names pop up soon enough.

May the Force Be With You,

Brandon Wainerdi and Jason Kauzlarich
